U21 Football Championship vs Fermoy   12/03/2017

Buttevant 0.10 Fermoy 2.12

Buttevant u21 Footballers suffered a tough loss to Fermoy in the first round of the Barnes Jewellers U21 B football championship.

The adverse weather conditions over the last fortnight has limited the amount of ballwork that the lads have been able to do at training and the rustiness showed, with Fermoy taking full advantage.

The match began with an unusual sight, as Buttevant wore the blue and yellow of the Colaiste to avoid a colour clash with Fermoy.

A minutes silence was held for lifelong supporter and GAA man, Danny Joe Curtin. RIP.

The lads came flying out the blocks, registering 3 early points but Fermoy pegged us back with a goal, and they kicked on into the lead at half time, 1.05 to .05.

Buttevant fought hard, but the goal was always separating the sides, and when Fermoy found the net a second time, the contest was effectively ended. We were unable to breach the Fermoy defense and the match finished in Fermoy's favour on a scoreline of Fermoy 2.12 Buttevant 0.10.

The back door will likely see us take on neighbours Charleville.
